Add Firecrawl’s search, scrape, and account tools to ChatGPT.
The account endpoint in this guide is not live yet and currently returns 404. Until the rollout completes, keep existing Firecrawl connections on https://mcp.firecrawl.dev/v2/mcp; do not configure /v2/mcp-oauth yet.

Firecrawl in the App Directory

If Firecrawl appears in your ChatGPT App Directory, select it and click Connect. Complete the Firecrawl sign-in and authorization flow when prompted. This is the normal end-user path for an approved, published Firecrawl app. You do not need Developer mode or a custom app.

Manual custom app

Use this path only when Firecrawl is not available in your App Directory or when you are testing a private MCP app. OpenAI currently provides full custom MCP support on ChatGPT web for Business and Enterprise/Edu workspaces. Pro supports a more limited read/fetch path. Availability and permissions may change, so check OpenAI’s current Developer mode documentation before setup.
  1. Have a workspace admin enable Developer mode under Workspace settings > Permissions & Roles > Connected Data.
  2. Open Settings > Apps > Create, or Workspace settings > Apps > Create if you are publishing for the workspace.
  3. Enter the Firecrawl endpoint:
  4. Choose OAuth when ChatGPT asks for the authentication mechanism.
  5. Select Scan Tools, complete Firecrawl sign-in, choose the team to use, and approve access.
  6. When the scan finishes, select Create. Workspace owners can then review and publish the app for other members.
Your Firecrawl API key is never placed in the app URL. ChatGPT stores a scoped OAuth connection instead.

Use Firecrawl in a conversation

After connecting, mention the Firecrawl app in your prompt or choose it from + > More. Try:
ChatGPT may ask you to confirm individual tool calls depending on the tool, workspace policy, and current product behavior.
